Associate Category Manager at Kellogg's - My career at the Kellogg Company began in 2018, working on the customer service team. I learned and grew not only in this role but in the company itself, taking on more jobs and responsibilities throughout my five years. I became highly involved with our Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion mission within Kellogg's, and even was able to co-lead several employee resource groups. I am very passionate about the work with do with Kellogg's, with providing delicious food to people across the world, supporting local farmers and businesses, and providing an inclusive "seat at the table" for people of all different backgrounds. My journey with this fantastic employer is just beginning!
Part-Time Business Professor at GVSU - I was thrilled to receive an opportunity to teach at Grand Valley! I am very passionate about this educational institution, and have spent many years taking classes and being involved in the colleges of business and performing arts. Mentoring has always been a strong interest of mine, and I am hoping to bring this to the table with my teaching position. Overall, I am excited to pursue this new endeavor and help mentor and teach business students at the same university I graduated from!
Resident Assistant at GVSU - After an amazing freshman year at GVSU, I chose to give back to the community at my university and interviewed for a Resident Assistant (RA) position for the freshman dorms. After I was hired in February of 2015, I spent the summer planning & preparing for my position, and the first few weeks of August receiving training with the entire RA staff at GVSU. As an RA in my community, there are several important duties & rules that I am responsible for upholding. My job is to secure a safe & friendly environment for the freshman at the university. I am also an enforcer of both housing & university policies, as well as being a direct contact for the university & local county police department. I serve as an emergency on-call contact for residents during weekly "duty" rounds, as well as supervising the local housing community and controlling & reporting any incidents. Some of my other duties include promoting community programs that provide residents with an educational and social purpose, constructing monthly posters that provide residents with basic information about the university, and creating door decorations for each resident in the assigned building. I also assist in the recruitment, selection, and training of new staff in each community at the university. Lastly, I would welcome new & returning Grand Valley students during "Transitions" week that took part during the first week before classes started.
Sales Intern (Tesla Account) - As I enjoyed my experience at Bosch over the summer of 2014, I decided to return to the company to assist the sales division once again. My new client over the summer of 2015 was Tesla Motors, Inc. I performed many of the same tasks and responsibilities as the previous internship, but I was given more responsibility as this client was fairly new to the corporation. My duties included: assisting in collecting over $8.55 Mio in revenue by invoicing sales orders; in addition, I created a spreadsheet that analyzed and organized invoices from 2013 onwards. I also manually "re-flashed" or reprogrammed over 150 parts, bringing in over $105,000 in revenue to Bosch from parts that would have been otherwise scrapped due to a shutdown at the customers plant. My long term assignment was to assist in entering production prices into SAP; in addition, I created a pricing summary spreadsheet that is intended for future use by the sales team. I also worked with the marketing division to plan & prepare for customer "Ride & Drive" events by ordering gifts to be given to the customers at the event, as well as scheduling a time & place to have the event. I was also responsible for assisting in writing quotation letters to our customers to continue our business with them. I held meetings with customers via teleconference to discuss price negotiations, forecasted orders, and verifying certain documents such as pricing agreements and purchase orders. Lastly, I piloted and organized a volunteer event for my sales team; we worked with Habitat for Humanity to help restore a home to its original condition.
Sales Intern (Ford Account) - I was an intern at Robert Bosch, LLC in Plymouth, Michigan over the summer of 2014. Being a leading supplier of technology and services across the globe, Bosch has generated over $65 billion in sales in 2012. Comprised of four main business sectors including Automotive Technology, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy & Building Technology, the company is represented in 150 countries worldwide. With nearly 4,800 patents, Bosch is striving towards perfection in innovation. As a sales intern at Bosch, my main focus was profitability among our business partners. My assignments included: organizing & filing purchase orders for products to our customers; hosting meetings & presentations regarding sales and price reductions; working continuously with Microsoft Excel applications to monitor prices & profits; hand-delivering parts to several customer locations; and lastly, processing prototype orders for orders. I also worked with Bosch Engineers and Sample Coordinators to develop a program that calculates the estimated cost of prototype orders. Furthermore, I independently worked on closing several open orders to our customers that were not shown as not being received, collecting over $42,000 in orders. I also helped create a new process for invoicing open tooling orders, preparing for over $5 M tooling to be invoiced later in the year. I also was responsible for improving and creating price tracking files for different sales divisions to help address over 25 price discrepancies, correcting prices totaling over $80,000.
Sales Representative - My previous job was working as a Sales Representative with Student Painters in Plymouth, Michigan. A company designed to develop young entrepreneurs, Student Painters helps prepare students for the real world and the competition they may face. Maintaining a real world business environment, Student Painters trains members to make intelligent financial decisions, allows them to experience real world interactions among customers, and immerses them in the culture of owning their own business. My contribution to the company included: helping design layout of flyers, approaching customers on a door-to-door basis, selling services to clients in my assigned territory, and scheduling appointments for estimates with customers and following up as a point of contact once the contract was agreed upon.
Soccer Referee - Working for the company, High Velocity Sports in Canton, Michigan, I was a Soccer Referee for 4 years for children between the ages of 6 and 12 years old. A premier indoor sports complex, High Velocity offers multiple sports including indoor soccer, dodge ball, flag football, basketball and volleyball. Apart from their sports leagues, High Velocity also provides corporate outings, birthday parties, and field trips. As a Soccer Referee, my job was to be responsible for game set-up and equipment, resolving conflicts without supervisor interference and taking on game assignments as a single referee.
